Louis Vuitton

The newest image was released for Louis Vuitton's Core Values advertising campaign, featuring none other than the impeccable Angelina Jolie. The ad, shot by famed photog, Annie Liebovitz, was photographed in Cambodia's Siem Reap province, where Jolie filmed Lara Croft: Tomb Raider in 2000. The location holds a special place in her heart as well, as it was where she developed her knack for humanitarianism, leading to the eventual adoption of her first son, Maddox.

Women's Wear Daily got the exclusive on the image and the interview with Vuitton's Executive Vice President, Pietro Beccari. "People are not used to seeing Angelina in this situation. I like the fact that it's a real moment. This travel message we give through personal journeys is a fundamental one for the brand."

The campaign is expected to run for at least 18 months alongside a few other recent "core values" personalities, including Bono and Sean Connery. Vuitton introduced the advertising concept in 2007 as a way to trumpet its travel roots and showcase its perennial monogrammed leather goods as a balance to its fashion-driven marketing - and to reach a broader audience.

In the ad, "Jolie is shown barefoot, wearing her own clothes, with no makeup and toting her own Vuitton bag". She's stunning, but no make-up? Who you trying to fool? The ad looks highly photoshopped, and the lighting looks off on Jolie's face compared to the background, making it seem like she, and the boat, were superimposed onto the background. Apparently she brought four of her kids to the photo shoot, some of whom had to be shooed out of Leibovitz's frame. So perhaps it is just the styling of the photo, it being very romanticized and all, that make it seem a bit manufactured and painting-like.

It's a nice picture, though.
