The Most Scandalous Fashion Ads Ever

For an industry based on the clothes worn on our backs, it is surprising how little of said clothes are actually shown in the advertisements that are churned out every year. Then again, everyone loves a little bit of controversy and this industry is certainly no stranger to that area. From underage models to cannibalism to sex, I've rounded up 13 controversial ads that rocked the fashion world. Check out my article for Sharp Magazine here. (Warning: NSFW)

Paris Men's Fashion Week (Pt.II)

My favourite looks from the Paris men's fashion week! For those quick to judge, keep in mind that I chose these looks for a variety of reasons. When looking at the outfits that are sent down the runway, one cannot just judge based on face value. You have to be able to see a look and have the ability to disassemble it, appreciating each piece for the contribution that it makes to the overall presentation of that outfit, or the contribution that it could make in another. You have to be able to imagine certain pieces in different settings. Perhaps in a beautifully stylized advertising campaign, perhaps in a whimsical street shot. Fashion and style are never singular formulas. These looks have been chosen for a multitude of reasons and are appreciated for their versatility! I encourage you to think outside of the box when looking at these pieces and try to imagine ways that they work instead of ways that they don't!

Christian Louboutin

Interesting article in AdWeek a couple days ago. To some, the pair of shoes above may seem like any other, a simple pair of black heels. But the significance of these particular pumps lies within the hue of the ever subtle, but highly recognizable, sole. Christian Louboutin's name is synonymous with the red underbellies of his shoes - a "haute" commodity that has sent the women (and men) of the sartorially-inclined crowd into a fashion frenzy. Retailing for hundreds to thousands of dollars for a single pair, these kicks come at a steep sacrifice. Indeed, it seems as if one would have to sell a part of their soul in order to get their hands on a pair of these highly-coveted items.
